What does this rule or driving tip mean?A bus needs room to drive safely past the stop and let passengers get on and off. That is why stopping is prohibited on the marking or within twelve metres of the sign.

How to apply this safely
Look for both the bus stop sign and any marking on the road.
Do not block the boarding area, even when briefly loading or unloading.
Take into account passengers crossing the road.

Driving lesson and test tip
If you are given a stop instruction, first check whether the spot is outside the bus stop zone. A short stop can still count as stopping under the law.

Remember: keep the bus stop marking clear, or stay twelve metres away from the sign.
