What does this rule or driving tip mean? For passenger cars with a trailer up to and including 3,500 kg maximum authorised mass, a special speed limit of 90 km/h applies. Of course, a lower posted limit still applies.
How to apply this safely
Distribute the load and drawbar nose weight according to the regulations.
Keep extra following distance because of the longer braking distance.
Check your mirrors, tyres and coupling before setting off.
Driving lesson and exam tip
Even without a trailer, it helps to understand why a combination drives more slowly and needs more space.
Remember: with a light trailer, 90 km/h is the maximum speed, even where passenger cars are allowed to drive faster.
